Square Peg Communications Delivers RSSI Software for Global Xpress

February 21, 2014

Square Peg Communications Inc. has delivered DSP software to Honeywell Aerospace that will be used to provide the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) used for antenna pointing in Honeywell's GX Aviation Ka-band SATCOM terminal.

Precise antenna pointing is critical for GX Aviation, where even small errors can compromise performance or increase inter-satellite interference (ISI). The Square Peg RSSI software provides accurate relative Signal Strength Measurements (SSMs) of the GX Global Signalling Channel (GSC). The SSMs are used by a Honeywell antenna control system to deliver enhanced beam pointing. The Square Peg software quickly acquires and tracks the modulated GSC carrier in order to make the carrier power and C/No measurements.

The Global Xpress system will deliver the world’s first truly global, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi, offering passengers, airlines and original equipment manufacturers consistent connectivity for commercial, military and business aircraft over land and sea.
