Square Peg Communications Receives R&D Funding for GPP-based Signal Processing Technology

Share

Square Peg Communications Inc. has received funding from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) to develop technology for performing wideband digital signal processing with a conventional General Purpose Processor (GPP) rather than with hardware or with specialized programmable processors. This approach will enable the development of simpler and less costly systems, increase system capacity, and avoid obsolescence for the foreseeable future. The funding is provided under the Canadian Space Agency’s Space Technology Development Program (STDP).

“Proactive development of enabling technologies allows Square Peg to provide leading-edge solutions in a timely manner. Moving our specialized processing to powerful general-purpose devices will help us to address the rapidly evolving requirements of mobile satellite communications systems by leveraging the ever-increasing computational performance and effectively unlimited memory capacity afforded by GPPs,” said Michael Gertsman, President of Square Peg.
